2019 Charlottesville Women in Data Science Conference
The Charlottesville Women in Data Science Conference, hosted by the UVA Data Science Institute in collaboration with the Global WiDS Conference, brings together the regional data science community to celebrate, support, and educate women in data science.
The 2019 Women in Data Science Charlottesville Conference will feature morning and afternoon keynote presentations by two incredible women working in data science: Rama Akkiraju (Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor, IBM Watson) and Meredith Broussard (Data Journalist and Author). The conference will also feature a panel discussion with women founders and excutives, research highlights and skills sessions.

Often surveys contain unstructured interview answers to capture wide ranging thoughts of interviewees on topics, purposefully not restricting any answer options to capture free-wheeling thoughts. Using R, this tutorial will walk through the “bag of words” approach, a common natural language processing method, to illustrate how to analyze and discover patterns within free-format text answers easily.
